I need to update my situation as there has been another major change.
Due to my age and level of fitness I realised I could not compete in handcycling races. I had already decided not to continue racing, but only go out on recreational rides on my handcycle. Then I met someone who is disabled and used to go sailing each week during the summer. Although he is a wheelchair user, the sailing club he went to could get him in and out of a boat, and the boat he sailed in was suitable for his capability. He invited me to go with him just after Easter in 2009.
Although it was nearly 40 years since I had last done any sailing, I loved the experience. It was so good that I then went every week after that. In November of that year I bought my own secondhand 2.4mR mini-keelboat. I now race every Saturday afternoon at Frensham Pond Sailing Club.

This was me racing at Poole, Dorset in June 2012.
