My cycling story

My earliest memory of riding a bike, was when I was six, and my father teaching me how to ride. After several lessons, I learnt to ride - brilliant.

In the part of England that I lived in more than forty years ago, it was quite safe for me to go out on my bicycle on my own - how it has changed now.

Then in my teenage years I got a car and stopped using my bike. The only time I used an old bike was to get parts for my car when it needed mending!

I will continue going out for days or evenings on my bike whenever I can.

My main cycling ambition is to go on a ride from Cardiff, in the south of Wales, to Holyhead in the north of Wales. This is over 300 miles (480 km) through a very hilly part of the United Kingdom. This ride is quite a good challenge and I look forward to doing it
