Invacare Top End XLT Pro handcycle

Friday 4th January 2008 I took delivery of a new bike. Unlike my previous bikes, or should that be bicycles, this one has three wheels, not two. Also, my feet are still in leg rests and my hands turn the cranks instead of using my feet.

It is very different to how I used to get about, but if you have read the update to my story, you should appreciate this is a fantastic opportunity for me that I never thought could happen. I thought my biking days had finished for ever!

The feel of this is so different to a bicycle. Obviously the riding position is much lower, but this is compensated for by the comfort. The seat and back are both cushioned and because you are sitting in middle of the front and rear wheels, the frame bends slightly when you go over bumps in the road. Just as if the bike had suspension.
